This April, Kurling for Kids
celebrates the 18th
anniversary of its annual curling fundraiser, dedicated to providing medical treatments, programs, and equipment to children in need through The Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation
and the Sainte-Justine UHC Foundation
The first Kurling for Kids bonspiel was organized by Robert Sears in 1993, where 48 people came together for curling and a pizza dinner, followed by trophies presented to the winners. In 1999, though, the annual bonspiel took on a different purpose after Robert’s daughter was treated at St-Justine Hospital following a seizure. Since then, he’s dedicated the annual curling tournament to St-Justine Hospital Foundation to show his appreciation for the hospital that saved his daughter’s life
raisin is proud to have helped power the Kurling for Kids fundraiser since 2011 - with each year being more successful than the last!
2013 marked a year of milestones for this event as it was the first year that Kurling for Kids was operated under its own registered charity! Two years after, Kurling for Kids was fast approaching the $2 million mark in total funds raised since its inception. To celebrate this occasion, the event was launched on the then brand-new Multi-Pledge
module, and with a refreshed event site designed by A.K.A. New Media. Leveraging the latest in peer-to-peer technology, Multi-Pledge has made it possible for the K4K team to quickly set up the 11 curling clubs who fundraise for Kurling for Kids; while saving them administrative time behind-the-scenes so that they can encourage and steward the over 400 curlers participating and make sure that they maximize the powerful fundraising tools in raisin’s best-in-class Participant Centre.
Now that 2016 event has launched, they are excited and confident that they will raise more than ever before for the life-changing facilities at The Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation and the Sainte-Justine UHC Foundation!
