Peterborough’s 16th Annual Dragon Boat Festival hit the water last Saturday, June 11. This year’s event was another great success, with 66 teams of 20 putting their paddles up and raising funds for breast cancer.

“It is a community event intended to promote awareness of breast cancer in our community, the benefits of physical activity and fun!” says Debbie Keay, Chair of Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival. “The funds raised by the event are something our entire community can feel proud of. There has been a significant enhancement to cancer diagnosis, treatment and care at our own hospital.”

This year, on a newly designed event site, participants competed to attain entry into the exclusive Dragon’s Lair luxury tent for the top fundraising team, while issuing #DRAGONBRAGGING challenges to others to raise more along the way.

Looking at this year’s fundraising, teams indeed have a lot to be #DRAGONBRAGGING about! In total, teams raised an amazing $172,000 (and counting!) towards breast cancer detection programs, treatment, and care at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

Donations are still being accepted, so show your support for Dragon Boat paddlers by visiting the event website and making a donation: https://prhcf.akaraisin.com/pdbf2016.
